Surely a result of Hamtaro’s influence, my daughter (Marisa) just had to have a hamster. Luckily for her, I’m down with having any type of critter, so a few months ago we headed to PetSmart and bought her a “ham-ham”; a golden hamster that we named “Penelope”.
At four-and-a-half, Marisa’s too young to take proper care of Penelope (that is, of course, my job), but thanks to a recent visit to GameStop and the acquisition of Hamsterz Life for the DS, now she can help take care of the virtual version of her hamster all by herself.
I haven’t really played the game very much myself, but from what I’ve seen, it’s an alternative to Nintendogs that’s as good as — if not better than — Nintendo’s crazy-popular puppy simulator. If you’re to believe my little girl, then it’s the greatest game since Mario Kart DS (a title with which she has much experience). Of course, I think the following picture pretty much sums it all up:
By the way, of all the things that she’s been able to do in the game (talk to her hamster, clean the cage, play mini-games, etc.), her favorite part so far has been the acquisition of a bandana for her hamster…or as she calls it, the “pirate hat”.
Hmmm… If I were a bit more cynical, I might think the whole point of this article was really just to show off your sweet palm tree couch cushions. Those things are great!
Oh yeah, the kid’s cute too.
Sadly, I cannot claim ownership of that particular sofa and its fantabulous palm tree print. 🙁
Awww, I don’t know why but she looks like strawberry shortcake to me.
