A Brief State of the Union Note

@JoeyConnelly on TwitterSince 2001, this site has seen its share of ups and downs, and it has surely petered out on more than one occasion.  Perusing the amount of new posts that have been published over the last year, it’s no surprise that the site has petered out again.  Truth is, I think Jon, Adam and myself have simply moved on from the journalistic side of gaming, and returned to a pre-Internet age, when we just played games without worrying about what we were going to say about them through the written word.

I can’t totally speak for the other guys, but personally, I find myself getting completely turned off by the thought of sitting down to write a piece about a game.  Perhaps it’s just laziness, I don’t know, but there’s simply no part of me that feels motivated to write about games like I used to.  The best I can muster is a Tweet or two about what I’m playing, and really not much more.  Considering the other guys lack of writing, I suspect they’re in the same boat.

And that’s fine; we’re all much older now than when we started this tomfoolery, and now we have things like families and whatnot to tend to.  Once you set aside some time to actually play games, it’s essentially impossible to find the time to write about them.

Unlike other melodramatic times in the past, I will refrain from saying this is the end of TJG, ’cause I reserve the right to be inspired and publish a write-up whenever I get the urge.  I’m just saying that outside of my Twitter feed, there’s likely to not be any posts from me for quite a while.  If the other guys submit something, I’ll certainly publish it, but I’m feeling doubtful that we’ll see anything new from them in the near-future.

In the meantime, I’ll continue to restore years of old content that’s currently missing from the site (I plan to have that project 100% completed before I die), and will also continue to micro-blog on Twitter; follow me!
